Acoustical Absorption Panel Installation – Government Facility (Washington, DC Area)
Hawkeye Construction completed the installation of custom perforated steel acoustical absorption panels within a multi-story garage intake shaft at a government facility outside Washington, DC. The work included precise layout, coordination, and installation of sound-absorbing metal wall panels, mounting channels, and acoustic infill materials in a confined vertical shaft environment to reduce noise transmission and meet strict performance requirements. Hawkeye executed the work while maintaining safe access, fall protection, and coordination with adjacent building systems. The project required detailed field verification, adherence to approved shop drawings, and careful installation in a challenging, high-elevation setting.
Sound Control Floating Concrete Floor – Richmond, VA
Hawkeye Construction completed the installation of a spring-isolated floating concrete slab system for a customer in Richmond, Virginia, to mitigate airborne and structure-borne noise transmission. The scope included layout, coordination, and installation of isolators, perimeter isolation materials, vapor barriers, reinforcing, and placement of a reinforced concrete slab designed to achieve stringent acoustical performance criteria, including NC-30 sound levels in adjacent spaces. Following curing, the slab was mechanically raised and isolated from the building structure to prevent vibration transfer. The project required precise coordination with acoustical engineers, manufacturers, and adjacent trades to ensure full system performance and compliance.
Soundproof Window Installation – Templin Hall Auditorium (Hampton, VA)
Hawkeye Construction completed the installation of high-performance QuietLite HM acoustic windows at the Templin Hall Auditorium to reduce sound transmission between the auditorium and adjacent control and support spaces. The scope included precise layout, installation, anchoring, and sealing of custom laminated acoustic window assemblies designed to achieve an STC-44 sound rating, in accordance with manufacturer details and architectural drawings. Work was performed within an active auditorium environment, requiring careful coordination, protection of finished surfaces, and strict adherence to acoustic detailing. The installation enhanced sound isolation while maintaining clear sightlines and architectural integration within the renovated auditorium
